Fund-raising is a piece of cake for villagers

Residents are enjoying the sweet taste of success after their home-made cakes event raised £172 for charity.

Mervin and Jacqui Straughan hosted the latest social gathering which saw 25 residents sample a range of tasty creations.

The cash will go towards the village's adopted charity, Martin House Children's Hospice at Boston Spa.

The social committee will round off the year with carol singing and a mince pies and mulled wine evening hosted by Caroline and Darren Greenhalgh on Sunday 13 December.
