Staging a fab village summer garden party is a piece of cake

A specially commissioned cake courtesy of June and Barry Whitham helped mark Flaxby's 2015 summer garden party in style. The event, kindly hosted this year by Maureen White, basked in glorious sunshine for most of the day despite early forecasts indicating otherwise.

Proceeds from the party's ticket sales and donations for second helpings of cake, will go to Martin House children's hospice at Wetherby.

The summer party, now in its seventh year, is one of a series of seasonal events organised by the village social committee each year to help "get to know your neighbour" and is always well attended.

Other events for the rest of the year include a village walk in September, a history evening in October and the choir and mince pies gathering at Christmas.

Look out for details coming through your door about arrangements or check the diary section of this website.

And if you would like to get involved in helping to organise any of our activities, get in touch with a member of the committee.
