The village social committee organises events to help residents get to know one another and have fun. Events include wine and cheese parties, summer tea parties, the Flaxby general knowledge quiz at the Tiger Inn and the Christmas carol singing and auction. Some of these activities are used to raise funds for charity.
The committee is also responsible for the social newsletter Flaxby Matters and the village website – www.flaxbyvillage.blogspot.com – which provides useful information for residents including diary dates, news and the recommended tradespeople list.
The committee members are: Buck and Kath White (Heron's Keep), Darren and Caroline Greenhalgh (Byways) and Mervin and Jacqui Straughan (7 The Grange)
