That's yer lot! Auction follows carol singing to boost charity funds

DECEMBER 2011: Going, going ... gone! That was the tenor of the evening when Flaxby residents turned out for the Christmas auction to raise cash for Martin House children's hospice.

Under the authoritative guidance of auctioneer Darren Greenhalgh, who hosted the event along with his wife Caroline, the event collected £295 – and this was boosted by a further £155 from the village carol singing and collection earlier in the evening.

The social organising committee has sent a a cheque to the Boston Spa based hospice for £570 which included the proceeds from the garden party, staged by Buck and Kath White in autumn, which raised £120.
