Two flyers may have dropped through your letterbox recently relating to traffic congestion in Harrogate and Knaresborough. One is from HALT (the Harrogate and Knaresborough Alliance For Less Traffic) urging you to support the proposed package without a relief road. The other is from North Yorkshire County Council inviting people to learn more about the optional schemes and to complete their survey before the deadline.
It wants as many people as possible to complete their survey by 8th July 2019. This is available on line at: northyorks.gov.uk/HarrogateCongestion, or as a hard copy from your local library.Exhibitions will be held at the Cairn Hotel on Wednesday 8th May (1500 - 1700 and 1800 - 2000hrs) and Saturday 15th June (1000 - 1200 hrs); also at the Best Western Hotel (The Dower House) Bond End, Knaresborough on Tuesday 14th May (1500 - 1700 and 1800 - 2000 hrs), and Wednesday 5th June (1500 - 1700 and 1800 - 2000 hrs).
The County Council has explored a number of possible options, and it is worth while taking a few minutes to look at the recent history of their work to understand the current position, in particular the Report of the Corporate Director Business and Environmental Services - Harrogate Relief Road Review - Progress Report 7th December 2017, and WSP Harrogate Relief Road Review, Stage 1 and Options Assessment Report - Executive Summary, November 2017.
You may then be better informed and come to your own decision which choice you will make.
