Our successes over the past few years

The start of 2023 saw the village association send a £534 cheque to Martin House children's hospice. The money was raised from social events during the previous year and builds on our regular support for the Boston Spa charity.

As well as organising social events, the association has clocked up a good track record of successes over the years as follows:

  • Bulb planting on the village green
  • Protective stones on the roadside.
  • Donation by Chippindales of a copper beech tree, planted near Morrisons.
  • Litter picking through the village and beyond.
  • Maintaining verges around the village signs.
  • Bulb planting outside Morrisons.
  • Constructing the village noticeboard.
  • White posts around the village green.
  • Crown lifting the tree on the green.
  • Maintaining the village bench seat.
  • Jubilee tree planting and stone on the green.
  • Liaising with Morrisons to reduce low frequency noise, reduce floodlight glare, keep wagons out of the village, provide adequate signposting, and maintain the verge outside its premises
  • No Cold Calling Zone
  • Flaxby History Group
  • Maintaining the tradespeople directory
  • Organising action groups, eg Flaxby Action Group
